Via Adopts Remix Advisory Council, Bringing on Two New Transit Planning Experts

Evan Landman of Jarrett Walker + Associates and Richard Ezike of Urban Land Institute both join the Remix and Via Advisory Council.

Via Transportation •

In April 2020, Remix launched an Advisory Council of industry experts to help guide the company construct cutting edge multimodal planning products for our customers. Via acquired Remix in spring of 2021, and immediately saw the value of a panel of industry experts to help the two companies build the vision for transportation planning 2.0 — one where our cities have the tools they need to make informed decisions and quickly implement changes to their transportation systems that meet the goals set by their communities.

The Remix and Via Advisory Council is made up of experts from across the industry. Each advisor is selected for having made a substantial mark on mobility, infrastructure and the problems we work in service of: equity, access, and sustainability. We are pleased to announce two more members to join our Council, bringing with them expertise in service planning, mapping, and transportation analytics.

Evan Landman, Jarrett Walker + Associates

Evan Landman is a transit planner and project manager with Jarrett Walker + Associates, who has worked on all elements of transit network redesign projects in communities throughout the US and Canada. Through this work, he brings a comprehensive understanding of the network redesign process, including analysis of existing transit networks, development and evaluation of alternative service strategies, and public engagement around potential future changes. As JWA's technical expert, Evan has led the development of innovative approaches to using transit data to tell stories about how transit networks function, who benefits and who is disadvantaged from their design, and how different choices could create different outcomes.

Richard Ezike, Urban Land Institute

As an engineer, community servant, and researcher, Richard Ezike employs his expertise to engage the community on issues related to environmental protection, transportation equity, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) advocacy. He is currently at the Urban Institute as a policy associate in the Research to Action Lab, where he manages a directive to ensure innovative technologies are accessible and inclusive of all communities. He was previously at the Union of Concerned Scientists, where he conducted research and engaged community groups on the potential social and economic impacts of autonomous vehicles, and at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) in the Center for Policy Analysis and Research, where he researched the impacts of transportation on African American communities. He has contributed to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments Transportation Planning Board’s (TPB) Long Range Transportation Plan, has organized and moderated transportation-themed panels at the CBCF’s Annual Legislative Conference, and has been published in media such as the Washington Post, Futurism.com, and the Washington Informer.

Ezike has served on several local transportation advisory groups, including the Riders Advisory Council of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and the Access for All and Air and Climate Public Advisory Committees of the TPB. He also serves on regional leadership of the National Society of Black Engineers. Ezike holds a BS in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor. Our advisors are incredibly talented at what they do — and people take notice. Remix advisor Meera Joshi has been tapped to lead the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Veronica Davis is now Director of Drainage Operations at City of Houston, and Tim Papendreou continues to lead Emerging Transport Advisors. We wish our former advisors so much luck in their new leadership roles, where they most certainly will make a mark.
