Intellectual Property

As a pioneer in on-demand transit innovation, Via maintains a robust global portfolio of patents to protect our proprietary technology. Our products, software, systems, technologies, methodologies and simulation tools are owned by Via, and protected by patents Via has in the United States and in other regions. Those patents are assigned to Via.

Our patent portfolio includes granted patents on our “virtual bus stop” technology. These patents broadly protect a transportation system (and subsequent computer-implemented methods thereof) for continuously updatable computer-generated routing with continuously configurable virtual bus stops for passenger ride-sharing of a fleet of shared vehicles. These computer-implemented methods and systems can be used to route a shared vehicle to pick-up users at pick-up locations for transportation to drop-off locations.

In addition to the patents described above, Via also has patents protecting systems and methods for managing, scheduling and routing ridesharing vehicles, systems and methods for planning transportation routes, and methods for prepositioning empty vehicles based on expected future demand.

Via’s robust patent protection, combined with our experience and expertise in operating and deploying the virtual bus stop system, means that no competitor can provide the same or comparable on-demand shared transportation and dynamic routing services.
