The bottom line.

Golden Empire Transit (GET) partnered with Via to commingle their paratransit, microtransit, and non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) services. The unified solution combined scheduling and dispatching for all services under one software platform, improving staff, operational, and service efficiency.

Tell me more.

Via’s sophisticated trip planning algorithm allows riders from all three service types to be commingled in the same vehicle, while respecting the requirements of each. As a result, the agency can now serve more riders at the same time. This also means paratransit riders can now take same-day, on-demand rides with the fully accessible microtransit service. In January ‘23, the service expanded to cover Bakersfield City Limits.

“For us as a business, there is greater efficiency…we’re carrying more people per passenger hour with this software, and we’re gaining some economies of scale that we didn’t have before.”
