Remix May 2024: Calendar 2.0 and many On-demand Planning updates
Transit
Calendaring 2.0 is here: now with Overlapping Service Periods
Remix Service Calendaring just got much more powerful: you can now schedule multiple service periods for the same dates.
This means Remix can now seamlessly support you in the following scenarios:
- Schedules with recurring supplementary service in addition to base service. Think: special event or peak seasonal service.
- Subnetworks that run on different schedules throughout the year. Think: school routes vs fixed routes.
- Infrequent rural routes. Monthly calendar view comes in handy here.
- Schedules based on multiple garages.
Check out a few of the features that enable this capability. You can now:
- Import GTFS such that it preserves all of the service IDs, allowing Remix to mirror an agency’s service exactly.
- Visualize how service overlaps by using the yearly view and new monthly view.
- Allow more than one service period to overlap service dates.

View Service by Date
Agencies that have overlapping services can now view all services operating in your network on a given day. Use this view for an at-a-glance summary of a day of service.
Please note that this feature is in Early Access.

Expanded OdP Zone Exports
We’ve made two user-requested updates that provide more flexibility when exporting zones from OdP. You can now:
- Export an individual on-demand zone as a KML file: no need to convert files after downloading!
- Export zones at the system level, which allows you to export all zones in a project into one single Shapefile, GeoJSON, or KML file.

Drag and Drop OdP Zones Between Projects
Perfected an on-demand zone in one project and want to use it in another? Now, you can simply drag and drop zones from one project to the next. This cuts down on duplicate work and lets you get started faster.

Greater Control Over Service Statistics Menu
We’ve made two changes to the Service Statistics menu to help you analyze and share the statistics that matter most to you and your team:
- See service statistics for an individual zone or aggregated across all on-demand zones in a project
- Statistics that you’ve “favorited” (by clicking click the star to the right of the statistic) now appear in the summary panel at the bottom of the Service Statistics menu, allowing you to highlight the stats your stakeholders value most

Convert Polygons and Data Layers into On-Demand Zones
You can now copy an existing zone shape (drawn shape or data layer feature) to convert it into an on-demand zone. Select the polygon, choose “Copy to on-demand zone” at the bottom of the screen, and you’ll instantly see the shape has been copied to a new on-demand zone.
