Gainesville-Hall County selected Via to power a citywide on-demand service, WeGo, to improve network cost-efficiency by replacing three underperforming fixed routes. The launch followed a microtransit feasibility analysis that identified opportunities to boost transit accessibility and quality of service.
WeGo makes spontaneous travel possible across a large service zone, with wait times significantly decreased compared to the previous fixed-route service. With most rides booked through a white-labeled app, staff resources within the local government are conserved, while quality of service has increased. After WeGo’s initial success improving ridership and lowering cost-per-trip, service was expanded to be countywide in July 2021, meaningfully improving mobility in its low-density rural areas.
"Gone are the days where passengers waited 30-60 minutes in the cold or heat for the next bus. With Via, our neighbors can quickly access a rideshare van with a click on their smartphone.”
