Remix launches Multi-User Editing, allowing multiple people to work on the same project at the same time

The world's most collaborative transportation planning software just got a little more...collaborative.

Work with your team in one project (no duplicates!), at the very same time.

Remix's newest collaboration feature, Multi-User Editing, allows you to assign multiple “Editors” to a project so you can all work on the same project, at the same time.

As your colleagues make changes, you’ll see their work update in real-time. Built to be intuitive for everyone, Multi-User Editing allows you to swiftly pull in stakeholders and collaborators from across teams to review changes or make direct edits to projects. When you’re done, share your project with stakeholders for review—providing a single view and source of truth for your work. The perks?

Work 2X as fast (or more!)
Save time you would otherwise spend waiting for your colleagues to make changes and sending files back and forth. With multiple people working at once, the work gets done faster.

Get feedback in real time.
Stay aligned by getting immediate feedback from collaborators. No need to wait.

Maintain a single source of truth.
Until now, Remix users had to duplicate project files in order to split up work across team members. Not only was this a hassle, but managing multiple versions of a single project created opportunity for error. With Multi-User Editing, teams can edit and maintain one project file, ensuring everyone stays on the same page.

What you’ll see and do with Multi-User Editing:

  • Make live, synchronous edits in the same project as your peers.
  • Follow along with your peers through live cursor tracking, active profile avatars, and more.
  • Set distinct permissions for project collaborators (Editor, Commentor, Viewer).
  • Create distinct map visuals from a single project.

Working together adds an unexpected benefit: excitement.

Beyond making planning more efficient, Multi-User Editing makes it more engaging. The new capabilities have been described as “fun” by multiple pilot users. We built the feature to speed up workflows, but we’re also excited by its potential to improve the day-to-day lives of agency staff.

“It feels like a community and like we’re in the same room working together. It’s fun to be in the project with someone else.”

“When I see a cursor pop up, I go and look at what they’re working on. It’s fun to see what everyone else is doing!”

Multi-User Editing joins Remix’s suite of collaborative planning features.

Remix has always been focused on breaking down silos in transit planning and scheduling. We do this by building software that increases visibility and makes collaboration easy. Why does this matter? We want to help bring the best transit plans—ones that consider diverse stakeholders, community leaders, and community members—to life.

Here’s how Remix powers collaboration across the platform:

Collaborate with Internal Teams
Leverage features like project sharing, commenting, and now Multi-User Editing, to easily and efficiently collaborate on transit plans — within your team and across departments. Reduce time spent in back and forth communication and increase productivity and impact with these collaboration tools.

Engage Your Community
Bring public feedback into your planning process with features like Public View and Commenting. Just like agency staff, public users can interact with the map, zooming in on details and scrolling through different areas of their community. Then, if enabled, members of the public can leave their comments directly on the map. Planners can engage directly with comments to ask for clarification or provide updates. Finally, simply export the comments and share with stakeholders to make holistic, community-informed decisions.

Secure Stakeholder Approval
Customize your project design to emphasize critical information for key stakeholders in Remix’s Presentation Studio. Giving agency leadership, board members, city councilors, and community members the right level of (beautifully displayed) information empowers them to understand and back your plan more quickly.
