It’s Tuesday, you're deep into your shift—fielding rider calls, assigning unscheduled rides, and trying to sip your coffee between it all—when you get a call from an operator that their vehicle broke down. It happens all the time… But now, you can solve it in just a few clicks.
We’re excited to introduce three new features that will help you handle disruptions with more control, speed, and flexibility. Together these capabilities—Ability to Override during Shift Editing, Ability to Duplicate Shifts, and Bulk Manual Reassignment—will reduce manual effort and help you respond quickly to vehicle breakdowns, driver changes, or any type of shift rescheduling.
We asked several large paratransit providers to test this feature: they saved up to an hour a day! Keep reading to learn how you can too.
Let’s look at a real-world example where a vehicle breaks down mid-shift. With these three capabilities, you can adjust your plan and get riders on track in just a few clicks:
When the vehicle breaks down, first edit the shift’s end time to show that the vehicle is no longer available and override system warnings telling you how the change impacts upcoming rides (the system didn’t know there was an issue!). This lets you make critical real-time adjustments and resolve impacts afterward so you don’t cause delays. Once this is done, you are ready to create your new shift and move your rides over to it.
Instead of manually recreating a new shift, duplicate the old one (all details will be pre-filled—such as start/end times, driver, vehicle, and shift tags), update the start time, and assign a new vehicle for the driver.
With the new shift in place, select the remaining rides from the old shift and reassign them to your new shift in bulk. You can reorder rides to optimize efficiency as needed. Finally, let the software check your change in real-time so you can confidently review the impact and make final tweaks.
By streamlining this key workflow through our Breakdown Bundle, we hope to help you manage breakdowns and changes more easily—and most importantly, provide smoother service for your riders!
