October 9, 2024 (NEW YORK) – Via, a global leader in TransitTech, proudly announces the appointment of its Chief Policy Officer, Andrei Greenawalt, to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transforming Transportation Advisory Committee (TTAC). Secretary Pete Buttigieg has selected Mr. Greenawalt to join this prestigious committee, where he will work alongside other transportation experts to help shape the future of multimodal transportation innovation in the United States.

The TTAC — led by Chair Kate Gallego, Mayor of Phoenix, Arizona, and Vice Chair Bryant Walker Smith, Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law — provides critical guidance and recommendations to the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) on advancing mobility solutions across various transportation modes. Mr. Greenawalt joins a distinguished roster of TTAC members, including leaders from public, private, and academic sectors such as Jeffrey Tumlin, Director of Transportation for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, and Kim Lucas, Director of Mobility and Infrastructure for the City of Pittsburgh.

Secretary Pete Buttigieg commented on Mr. Greenawalt’s appointment: “Your work representing the views of the mobility industry will greatly benefit the TTAC and the Department’s efforts to leverage innovation to improve multimodal transportation. Your experience and leadership will add valuable insights and perspectives that will help further TTAC’s and DOT’s mission.”

Mr. Greenawalt brings a wealth of experience in public policy and innovation, both in government and in the transportation sector. At Via, he has been instrumental in advancing the company’s mission to provide cities and transit agencies with flexible, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions. As part of TTAC, he will contribute to policy recommendations that support equitable, accessible, and environmentally conscious transportation networks nationwide.

“I am honored to be appointed to the Transforming Transportation Advisory Committee and to have the opportunity to work alongside such esteemed leaders in the field,” said Andrei Greenawalt. “A transportation future that provides Americans affordable access to jobs, healthcare, and education will require smart public policies informed by collaboration and innovative thinking.
