14 October 2025 (BERLIN) – Via, the global leader in TransitTech, today announced the formation of its European Advisory Board. The new board brings together prominent figures from the mobility industry and academia, who will provide strategic guidance as Via continues its significant growth in Europe.
The three-member board will be chaired by Dr. Rolf Erfurt, CEO of Toll Collect and a distinguished public transport expert, having previously served as a board member for Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and as a CEO within the Transdev Group. The founding members also include Prof. Andreas Hermann, Director of the Institute for Mobility at the University of St. Gallen, and Prof. Barbara Lenz, Senior Advisor and former Director of the Institute of Transport Research at the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
Intelligent and On-Demand Mobility Gains Momentum
Via's technology enables flexible, on-demand public transport services and is already deployed in hundreds of cities across more than 30 countries, with 196 projects in Europe alone. By analyzing billions of transit-specific data points, Via helps municipalities and transport authorities develop efficient, effective, and inclusive public transportation systems.
By leveraging the Via platform, partners ranging from major transit authorities like Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and Transport for London to rural districts like Dingolfing-Landau have achieved significant improvements in ridership, service coverage, and accessibility. These enhancements particularly benefit passengers with limited mobility and those in rural areas. The Via platform has demonstrably increased operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness for partners across Europe.
Via's European operations have continued to show significant growth in 2025. Milestones include the launch of a nationwide on-demand system in Ireland in cooperation with the National Transport Authority, and the expansion of existing flagship projects like "sprinti" in the Hanover region. In Germany, Via collaborates with over 80 partners, including the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) in Hesse and Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen (SSB) in Baden-Württemberg. Via also operates specialized transport services for people with disabilities, such as the "Wirmobil" in Berlin.
A Milestone for Via in Europe
"The appointment of Rolf Erfurt, Andreas Hermann, and Barbara Lenz to our European Advisory Board marks a milestone for Via and underscores our commitment to actively shaping the future of resilient and inclusive public transit in Europe," said Chris Snyder, Co-Chief Operating Officer and European CEO of Via. "At a time when our European partnerships are expanding rapidly, their collective expertise will be crucial in ensuring our technology delivers impactful and sustainable solutions for cities and communities across the continent."
Dr. Rolf Erfurt, Chairman of the European Advisory Board, added: "I have closely followed Via's evolution from a startup to a global, publicly traded TransitTech company and am inspired by its verve. Through multimodal planning, new technologies, and data-driven approaches, Via successfully maximizes efficiencies in public transport while significantly enhancing the passenger experience. I am confident that with this board, we can further amplify Via's contribution to attractive, forward-thinking, and efficient public transport in Europe."
The announcement of the European Advisory Board follows Via's successful initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange on September 12, 2025.
