Overview.

To better serve a growing community, Summit County recognized the need for expanded transportation options and created High Valley Transit. The new agency worked with Via Strategies to develop a multimodal transit development plan and leveraged Remix software to design a system that emphasized frequent and direct fixed-route service paired with on-demand zones to increase coverage and provide first- and last-mile connections.

Outcomes.

With Remix Software and Via Strategies, Summit County shaped their vision into a transit reality. After comprehensive analysis and frequent engagement with local stakeholders as well as community members, High Valley Transit launched their new system in July 2021 with broad public support and buy-in. Since then, ridership has increased quickly and the agency is on pace to exceed 100,000 passengers in the first year of implementation.

This service is a game changer for transit in the Snyderville Basin. Previously unserved or underserved neighborhoods will now have access to a robust transit system that we are confident can reduce auto use.”
